Update Version 3 is Now Live!

Update Version 3 is now live!

This is a significant update that addressed most of the feedback from recent playtesting of the new version of Windstone.

Patch notes:

Music should no longer distort periodically. If you still experience this, it may be caused by high cpu usage.

New Music Tracks have been added to the soundtrack.

An issue has been fixed where music would not play after loading a saved game.

Head bobbing has been removed from the walk and run cycle as some users had reported it causing disorientation.

Walk speed has been increased.

Run speed while not wielding a tool or weapon has been increased.

A pick up/interact indicator has been added to all items that can be picked up or interacted with.

Menu buttons have been arranged and rekeyed to be more intuitive.

Invisible walls have been added to the tops of mountain borders around the first region to contain players inside the first region. These will be expanded as new playable regions are added.

Toggling V for HUD vitals and B for HUD toolbelt has been added to the tutorial quest since some players were unaware this was already a feature. It was previously listed in the journal, but not obvious if you didn't read the journal.

The journal has been updated.  Reading the journal is recommended for gameplay information.

A direction and distance compass indicator has been added to the Dragon Egg quest. You must left mouse click on the quest bullet point to make it active for the compass indicator to appear.

Floating and overlapping boulders and trees have been fixed.

More trees, boulders, mountains and items have bee added to the landscape.

Agave and Pineapple have been added to the landscape.

Six more caves with storage containing random items have been added to the landscape.

More obsidian has been added, mostly underwater by waterfalls and in caves.

Antelope should now run away every time they are struck by an arrow.

Aggressive wildlife now has a more significant hit effect when they take damage.

An issue has been fixed where the player would spawn in a different location when loading a saved game.

Graphics settings persist through loading a game while already in game, but will still reset if the game is completely shut down and restarted. This is a work in progress.

Items to be crafted on the crafting menu now have a more apparent highlight when selected.

Tools and Weapons that need a tool equipped to craft it now indicate this in the crafting menu instead of simply notifying you if you try to craft an item without the required tool necessary.

An issue where the survival crafting menu could not be closed with the close button has been fixed.

An issue where storage items would disappear may have been fixed, but this bug still may still happen. Please give feedback on how this can be reproduced if you come across this bug. I cannot seem to reproduce it, but playtesters have found this to happen occasionally and report that putting any item in the storage container brings the missing items back.

An issue has been fixed where an item could become stuck in the middle of the screen when moving it with right mouse click.

You can no longer run while moving an item with right mouse click. This is to balance being able to travel while holding a fully loaded storage basket.

Holding Shift no longer drains stamina in water. Currently you can only swim at one speed in water.

You can no longer save a game while a game is loading, which caused multiple issues. The load has to completely finish before you can resave now.

A Skip button has been added to the prologue dialogue.

An overhead map has been added. This map shows the area directly above the player with an arrow indicating the player's position and the direction they are facing. This is a first iteration and the map may be able to be panned and zoomed in the future.

Gravity has been increased. When the player jumps, it should feel more like earth gravity.

An issue has been fixed that caused the tool and weapon swinging animation to never stop if the inventory menu was opened while swinging.

Many item inventory icons have been updated. All icons should now resembled their counterpart.

The animation for drawing back an arrow has been modified. The left arm no longer obstructs view and looks more natural.

The position of a crafted fire has been slightly moved so the character is not standing on the edge of it when it is crafted. This previously caused the player character to "pop up" a bit when the campfire and surrounding stones appeared under their feet upon crafting a fire.

Thank you for playing Windstone. All feedback is greatly appreciated.
